Reliable Resources

Spider veins are small dilated veins in the skin. When these veins become larger and protrude, they are called Varicose Veins.
Spider veins are common in both women and men, and are principally genetically determined.

Spider Vein Treatment at Southern Oregon Vein Care is most often performed with Sclerotherapy, the gold standard of treatments, and involves injecting veins with a safe solution that causes the body to absorb the vein without harming the rest of your body. As this is a medical procedure, it is important that an experienced practitioner perform sclerotherapy to assure ideal results. Tiny needles are used, and complications are extremely unusual.

Basically, the injected solution locally injures the dilated veins, causing the body to absorb the vein over a period of weeks to months. By directly injuring the underlying leaking feeder veins, sclerotherapy effectively reduces the later appearance of new spider and varicose veins.

The treatment involves no significant limitations or downtime, and the patient may go immediately back to work following their appointment.

Laser/IPL Therapy is another technique used and is most effective for small or medium size spider veins. Laser energy causes your spider veins to coagulate and shrink. Treatments are associated with mild discomfort, not unlike a small rubber band snapping against skin. Treatments do not require sedatives, pain medications, or injections of local anesthetic.
We will discuss which treatment is best for you at your free consultation.

Again, comfort and safety are the priority. Most patients relate any discomfort to that of an ant bite. The majority of persons who have sclerotherapy or laser therapy performed have satisfying results. The number of treatments needed differs from patient to patient depending on the extent of the problem

Scheduling Your Free Consultation

The consultation is a planned half-hour planned just for you, spent with Dr. Hancock and a laser specialist that will gather personal health information, take note of your concerns and plan your treatment program. Your questions will be answered, pricing and payment options will be explained.

Failure to keep your appointment without calling ahead to cancel or reschedule not only detracts from our day's schedule, but it also prevents other patients wishing appointments from being seen on that day.
